We are excited to announce the soft launch of the "Pencader Matching Gift Challenge", this Saturday, May 4th with an event hosted on our museum grounds.
The Pencader Heritage Area Association has received a $50K matching gift donation made in the loving memory of **John W. Slack Sr. by Merle J. Slack, widow and trustee of the John W. Slack Sr. Trust.
All donations made to this fundraiser will be matched dollar for dollar, until the $50K goal has been met. As the PHAA is a 501(c)(3), your donations are fully tax-deductible and will greatly enhance our fundraising opportunity.
All funds raised will go toward fulfilling the PHAA mission to "Promote the History of Pencader Hundred through Preservation and Presentation". Specific projects include procuring a variety of archival materials, maintenance/creation of museum displays/exhibits, outdoor public educational /interpretive signs, on-going research into perspectives and lives of the wide variety of ethnic groups historically connected to the greater Pencader Hundred area. We also hope to generate enough funds to aid in identifying existing local historical properties that could be lost due to distress or development. Through education, we could hopefully impact their preservation. We hope to develop educational materials related to our local history. These could be used for home and public educational curriculum and extracurricular history clubs/programs. We also hope to add substantially to our endowment fund, so the future of our organization is better secured. This fundraising event will continue through December 31, 2024. We will report monthly progress and offer invitations to other major events and programs through the year.
On Saturday, May 4th bring your lawn chairs and enjoy the transporting musical talent of the 28th Pennsylvania Regimental Brass Band playing period music at the Pencader Heritage Museum. Talented re-enactors will be playing period music from the Civil War era with authentic period instruments and wearing historically accurate uniforms! Please come out to support us. The band will be playing music from 10 a.m.- noon and resume playing from 2:30 p.m.- 4:30 p.m.

In case of inclement weather, the event will have to be rescheduled.
